The task:
Create a cake or cookie (bake, buy or steal?).

Alexander – the cake
Name, style and personality
I'd like you to meet Alexander, a typical Grünerløkka cake. This cake has an appealing look and seems to have been made just by accident, but don’t be fooled; the whole thing is planned and shaped thoroughly!
Ingredients
Though it appears to be simple cake made just by accident, the taste is quite complicated. The chocolate and sweetness has a major part, but there is also a wage taste of coffee deep down, with references to the café culture at Grünerløkka. The chocolate is dark and black; this is the “real thing” and no fake chocolate. The white cream is also made by chocolate, and makes a nuanced contrast to the dark chocolate. Together it is overwhelmingly sweet.
Colour, decoration and flavour
Alexander makes himself tempting by using a strong contrast in colour, and showing that he is a chocolate cake, using chocolate decoration. And as we know, chocolate is something almost nobody can resist. But the interesting thing is that when you actually taste the cake, it’s a bit too sweet. This means that after a short while you have had enough of it, and don’t want to see it for a while.
Size and occasion
But Alexander is aware of the fact that people can get too much of him. Because of this the piece of cake is quite small. It also suits the Grünerløkka customer well; with the pressure of being healthy and constantly on a diet, you can only allow yourself a small piece of cake once in a while. And trendy as you are you buy the cake at Deli de Luca – off course you are too busy to bake it yourself.
Idea behind the name
The cake has a masculine look in the use of strong contrasts, darkness, simplicity and the “messy decoration”. I chose the name Alexander because it is quite typical for the Grünerløkka generation.
